Why some "non-profit" hoax and spam are created? [closed]

Many spam/hoax has no direct link to any ripoff site or similar, they're just making sure people spread them ("forward this to at least 10 people or else").

Some of those may be created out of good faith, I'm not interested in those... But the rest, I since long suspect that there is some other reason for making them other than making fun of people (without getting much of the feedback)...

Why are these created?
